Administrators, coaches, and volunteers involved at our elite levels of hockey are committed to the development of the “whole” person entrusted to our care. Since education is a critical component within our organization, leadership in fulfilling the academic needs of these young men/women is of utmost importance

American Hockey academy will provide an outstanding environment to help young men/women develop very valuable and personal qualities that will enhance any career once their playing days are over.

These Include:

  • Athletic ability and a high level of physical fitness.
  • Personal discipline and ability to deal with adversity and pressure.
  • Time management in balancing the demands of intense competition, practice times, travel, and maintaining appropriate academic performance.
  • A sound understanding of “teamness”.
  • The mental skills required in analyzing and making decisions quickly in stress-filled situations.
  • Understanding the meaning of commitment.
  • Built into these traits are other personal qualities such as integrity, honesty, good moral character, and passion that are integral to playing the game at any level.

As a result of these inherent qualities, graduates of American Hockey Academy will be heavily recruited by universities and colleges. Hockey coaches in these institutions seek these athletes to enhance their programs. The reality is that the inherent qualities described above provide a solid platform for American Hockey Academy players to be very successful academically and achieve a degree or diploma at the post-secondary level.

  • Players gain more exposure from major junior and college programs with the added game and practice ice, as well as playing with the best competition.
  • Hockey Academies offer an organized environment structured to fit the student-athletes’ schedules.
  • Players typically live in dorms or billeted families helping them grow as individuals and maturation but also a sense of family and community.
  • Hockey Academy teams enjoy proximity to the home rink, allowing players to practice more times a week than a traditional high school.
  • A typical day for hockey players at the academy includes classes, on-ice practice, and off-ice conditioning, before returning to the dorms to finish their homework.
  • Hockey Academies give teenage prospects a chance to play high-level hockey, but also provide an opportunity for teenagers to be traditional high school students.
