U16 Coach
Bret Tyler, hailing from Maynard, MA, has had a distinguished career in hockey both as a player and a coach. His journey in the sport began with the Boston Jr. Bruins in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), where he played from 1999 to 2004. During his tenure with the Jr. Bruins, Bret's exceptional skills on the ice earned him the league MVP title twice, in 2003 and 2004.
Following his junior hockey success, Bret went on to play for the University of Maine Black Bears from 2004 to 2008. He was selected to the Hockey East all-rookie team and served as an assistant captain in his senior year. As a defenseman, he led all defensemen on the team in scoring for four consecutive seasons. His contributions were pivotal in helping the Black Bears reach the Frozen Four twice during his college career.
Bret's transition from player to coach has been marked by significant achievements and extensive experience. He has coached the GBL Bruins for 10 years, Milton Academy for 3 years, and has been involved in skills development with the Seacoast Spartans. Additionally, Bret has coached the NCDC Jr. Bruins and has worked with many local NHL and Division 1 athletes throughout his coaching career.
Bret Tyler's deep understanding of the game, combined with his extensive coaching background, has made him a respected figure in the hockey community. His dedication to developing players and his passion for the sport continue to leave a lasting impact on the teams and athletes he works with.
